$100 Added for the Open 4D Barrels each race in 2003, and $50 added for the Youth 4D Barrels!!! Our added money sponsors are Moss Rock Specialties & Trucking of Laramie, WY, & Laramie Turn n Burn. The Newsletter page is updated through the December 6th race now. Did you ever wonder how the payouts are calculated in a 4D? The formula used for 2003 (graciously provided by Traci Swisher last year), is on the Newsletter page.

You all know that change is inevitable. We have put on Turn-n-Burn since 1998, and have decided to take a break for awhile so we can play with our OWN horses! This will give us time to think about the event structure, and when we start another one you can expect it to be a lot of fun. When we're ready we will advertise it here and in the Rocky Mountain Roper and Rodeo News. Keep in touch, and we'll see you "out there"!

Laramie Turn-n-Burn's 2003 Format

After running five years with the same format, the Laramie Turn-n-Burn Speed Event Saddle Series made some exciting changes starting in January 2003. Our 3D format on three events changed to 4D Barrels and Poles. We have one Novice Rider race AND Novice Horse Barrels (less than $1000 earned by the horse). These last two will not be 4D. We have added money! Of course, each race is a jackpot with 80% pay-outs as well as letting you gather points for year-end prizes in the 4D events.

As you know, barrel racers and pole benders don't get many chances to win a saddle, so don't miss yours! We will award two trophy barrel saddles at the end of the year, and terrific prizes for division winners. Look for custom breast collars and more! And please note-the saddle sign-up fee (one time per year) is only $30 for 2003! As always, saddle points only start to accumulate from 2003 races AFTER the fee is paid. You don't HAVE to run in both events to run for the saddle, all that matters is how many points you get by year's end in ANY ONE DIVISION of 1D, 2D, 3D, or 4D in one or both events.

Open Barrels are $25, Youth Barrels are $20, and Poles are $15 per run. Novice Horse is $15, and Novice Rider is $1. Exhibition runs are $5. A $2 arena fee and $3 timer fee is part of the entry fee above, and a $5 per-rider-per-day (pay only once each day no matter how many runs you make) insurance fee must be charged due to the University requirements for insurance. It's a great facility, it's worth it!

The Winter/Spring dates were: JANUARY 4, FEBRUARY 1, MARCH 1, APRIL 5, AND MAY 17. The Fall/Winter dates were/are SEPTEMBER 6, OCTOBER 4, DECEMBER 6, AND JANUARY 17TH, 2004. Call 307-721-4721 and leave a message for LuAnn Herkstroeter for info. Keep checking the web site at laramietnb.swisherarena.com, and use the email at wyoracer@yahoo.com.

As always, we thank our sponsors for supporting the race, racers, and our community. You are the BEST! And don't forget the Rocky Mountain Rodeo News-they have been so helpful to us! It's a great rodeo magazine-pick one up if you don't subscribe already. (Why don't you???)

************************************************************************************************************************** Read on for information about LAST YEAR'S SERIES and information about the 2003 series.

From 2002-Congratulations to Kay Brooks of Hayden, CO for winning the Open Saddle, and Cayla Allen of Wellington, CO for winning the Youth Saddle. Though the races were close right up to the finish, we have deserving winners who earned every bit of their reward.

The 2002 PRIZES!!!

Corriente Saddle Company Saddles with fancy trim for Open & Youth yearly high-point winners. Thank you, Wayne Baize, for your help the last 4 years. All of our winners have praised your barrel saddles. Besides the arena, many are also used for ranch riding and even for (inadvertently) breaking colts, or so I hear. They look great and really hold up to use!

Montana Silversmith Buckles are always beautiful. Thank you, Rob & Crystal Vogel and The Boardwalk of Laramie for helping to provide the 2002 buckles, and for donating the Novice Rider buckle.
